Movie trailers are so misleading. They take the most interesting parts, funniest parts, scariest parts, whatever and put it in the trailer. It makes you think the movie is good. So you go pay like 12 dollars for a ticket, more if you decide to actually cough up 20 dollars for snacks that aren't good for you, not to mention way overpriced.
But luckily I (except once in a while) don't fall for the trap. Nope. I wait for the DVD, and say to myself "Good thing I didn't see this in theaters." Yes this is sad, but whatever. Plus at movie theaters you can't pause or lower the sound. So if you go to the bathroom (again person with small bladder) you will miss something.
Especially if you have high expectations for a movie, you are almost always sadly disappointed. When Avatar came out (the one with the blue people) everyone was saying it was the BEST movie ever. So I finally got it on DVD and with those high expectations and I was totally bored (fine exaggeration, but I was waiting for something spectacular to happen, but it was a bit cliche). It wasn't horrible, but totally not worth the hype.
But if you have low expectations, sometimes you are pleasantly surprised. I thought "Oh, Tangled is going to be cheesy and overdone, but it turned out to be awesome, even though I missed out on the beginning because we were late to the theater. So I felt really stupid (along with my friends) when we were like Oh, She's the Princess (but according to my other friend who had already seen it without us, in the beginning they told us she was the Princess) we're so smart we figured it out. FAIL. But whatever. Plus there were only like 5 other people there and they were like little kids with their moms. We were the only ones laughing though, and I think a mom death glared at us. It was so cute when the little girl was very sad when the main guy (forgot his name) was dying and she was exasperated. But if you haven't seen it, go get it on DVD.
Below is a link to a funny THE BIG BANG THEORY clip. I couldn't find the video itself on the video thingy.
